I think that particular clause only applies to gifts from foreign governments. I’m not sure there is a law about paying government funds to yourself....as a nation we’ve just never seen this kind of blatant corruption in a president!

No, because there actually is logic to banning guns for everyone. All you have to do is look at the data for nations that have successfully done this vs. deaths by gun violence in the US. For example:
