I will (shamefully) admit I used to be the type who was like, “we have a socioeconomic imbalance in this country masquerading as a race issue” but like you, Trayvon Martin forced me to confront that no, actually we have a humungous problem with racism. And it wasn’t just the news coverage - it was people I considered

It was Trayvon Martin who really forced me to confront race in America. I remember seeing how his character was assassinated by Fox News and other right wing outlets and thinking, “he was seventeen. He’s a menace to society because he smoked pot and got into a fight? In that case I was Al fucking Capone.”

Thats like a hill billy saying “What next?! If you two GUYS can marry, why can’t I marry my dog?! Exactly!”

Simplest answer: Because gender and race aren’t the same thing. They’re not even similar to each other.

No, I get it—the attitude that everybody over 30 must be an intolerant racist. Right kid, we were all racists until you came along...thanks for opening our eyes!

He IS good! (/s)

I’m thinking, just maybe, we should have left some children behind.

Nobody knew health care could be so complicated.

It’s easy as fuck to look “presidential” when you’re just standing at a podium reading someone else’s words and there’s no chance in hell that anyone will be able to ask you a question about anything you just said. Especially when you compare it to the shitshow that has been every press conference you ever had.

President Obama could be reading the Bible, feeding the homeless and delivery babies at the same damn time and people would still hate on him.

That’s what I was going to ask. “I would never.” Yes. Yes you would. You did.

thats because racism has not only been legitimized, its been deemed patriotism.

“I would never ...” = “I didn’t realize there would be consequences for my actions.” Which is why we are seeing an uptick in racist and anti-Semitic acts; people are getting the message that they can get away with it.

Um, I said “Run for office and get active in campaigns.” I should have said *or*. But I think you read a lot into it that wasn’t intended, and I think we’re agreeing here on most levels.

“My opponent says there are no easy answers? I say he’s not looking hard enough!”

Future Trump comments:

The 14 stunned birds were later quoted as saying “They were so good at the beginning of the season, what the fuck happened?!”

The problem with simpletons like Trump is that to them, complicated = bad. Trump wasn’t making an admission, he was making an accusation. He and his ilk don’t have the mindspace for complex solutions.

Ah yes, analysis. The rupture and disintegration of the butthole (anal &-lysis). I cannot think of a more fitting analogy for the guy.

I would be interested to know the origin of this term. Above, it says that it's been floating about the mid-wife blog circuit. And that makes the cynic in me perk up her evil little pointed ears.
