You are welcome, my late and needlessly sarcastic subject.

Get outta here!  Ken Foree’s cameo was totally meant as the ravings of an idiot Televangelist.  Something to be mocked.  Foree delivered it because he ALSO delivered his quasi religious theory of  the Zombocaplypse in the original.

I didn’t appoint myself anything. If you want a bad boy to learn why he’s bad, you explain why. Whether the woman was upset by something or not is not the point. Whether her concerns are widely valid are. I don’t think it sucked. I don’t think we have to do better. I think the woman took it the wrong way, and is

Whether that concern applies in this case.  For one thing, the situation described by the woman is the exact opposite of the concern you detail above

Well, you’re using epithets as adjectives. That usually indicates rising emotion.

What if I did already, and , y’know, still have questions?

You’re just going around in circles. I take from this that you don’t really KNOW why you’re upset. OK. Unsatisfying, not enlightening. But OK.

I don’t deny that the woman was upset. I don’t even know the woman. I am sorry the experience upset here. However, I am also trying to ascertain whether it’s possible, or even necessary “to do better in the future.” A person being upset is not a great thing, but it doesn’t necessarily mean, in general, that everyone

My fingers are fine, thanks. I understand, and am sympathetic to, the concept that “blackface” to caricaturize black people is insulting and absolutely wrong.

But that’s only what she felt. I don’t think that’s what was going on. She was being made up to match an existing character. That’s movie making. Wear a wig, add a moustache, put on glasses, change the clothes, add wrinkles, wear a girdle, stuff the shirt, change the skin tone. That has nothing to do with racism. It

Yep.  There’s been folks in blackface.  This isn’t that.  I don’t think people don’t believe she was uncomfortable.  They’re just trying to understand what the reason is, and whether it’s been overblown or legitimate.

Im with you. I work in the business. I’ve seen a dozen stunt guys with Schwarzenegger Chins glued on. I’ve seen people given tans when they’re supposed to be doing a sun scene. Seen people made pale when they’re supposed to be shut ins. This actress was supposed to be matching an existing character? I don’t understand

But that’s what I just said. If you want to set a story in that universe where someone is NOT planning to Trek to distant Stars, don’t call it Star Trek. You can still stay in-Universe. But, do you think that this new plan is going to be about a band of Federation researchers staying solely in one solar system they

Just let it go. Please. The more ST they make, the farther they get from actually being ST. Take the core concepts of Roddenberry’s ideas and make your own thing. It’s such a cynical move to make something with just enough allusions to the old Trek to force the aging Trekkers from their death beds to shamble down to

It tricked me, that movie, because I halfway expected it to be a comedy.  Keaton had JUST started doing more serious movies (Pacific Heights was around the same time, I think) but I still saw him as a comedian.  I agree: Great, unsung, movie.

Wow.  That’s a deep cut pick.  I was a huge fan of that show.  Nice one.

Good God, Once is a sad movie...about a relationship that really never even IS.  Great choice.

Or Costner having a catch a little further on.  Good choice, the Doc Graham scene.

One hundred percent.  Dad stuff wrecks me.  I said as much somewhere below (or above, depending on how you read these)
