Sicario 2 didn't have Any Blunt as the "I-Guy" character. She wasn't the protagonist or hero of the first film she was a neophyte so we could see thru her eyes. The second movie dispensed with that element ....and had the world's most hackneyed plot. I agree that the sensibilities are the same.

Dude.... Genre movies can be whatever they want, but if they choose an ouvre that already has established rules, they have to realize the question will come up. Funny. I go the other way. I have an absolutely stellar time watching Coen movies the first time and then, when already know all the quirks, I find the films average.
