Enforced authentication would indeed be necessary, and probably a slew of other DRM features. On principle I’m not necessarily against that, but It’s interesting that I’m sure the people clamoring for resales most strongly are the same people who light torches and raise pitchforks at most forms of DRM.
Yeah but you keep overlooking the fact that your list of ‘physical friends’ is finite. You pass it to friend A, they pass it to friend B, when a few people have played it the passing stops. A digital copy can get bought and re-sold for years to random people. Unless there are major restrictions on what you can do with…

Undertale made me grin until my face hurt. Then it broke my heart. And that was just the prologue.
God Bless Mooney. I grew up in a SD beach town. Roberto’s was a fixture. This comedy piece captures the vibe 100%. I even spent a summer delivering Dominos pizzas. I can’t tell you how many shit-shanty, beach shacks I had to bang on to deliver pizza to 20 year old burnouts blasting Marley and praying for the future…
“As much as I enjoyed Fallout 3, I can’t remember a single face that populated the Capital Wasteland”
I have had a first-hand experience with NMA’s special brand of self-righteousness when I worked on what was(at the time) the Official Fallout Tabletop RPG. At the time is was a fetid pool of self-centered do-nothings who were stuck in the past and could only tear down and never build up, and it doesn’t sound like it’s…
Those gamers should really stop complaining....
It’s always amusing to me when a game has massive sales, is mostly well-received, and yet - there’s always a community crying out “This game sucks! <Company Name Here> is ruining <Game Series>.” Fact is you can’t please everyone. If these people want to whine about it so much perhaps they should get off their asses…
Ugh. Once you get to the point that you think the Fallout 2 engine/UI is a good thing you’ve gone cargo cult. It’s the story and writing that are good in spite of the it.
Yeah, as a huge CRPG fan from Fallout’s heyday (I was more of a Baldur’s Gate guy, tho I did play Fallout 2 back then) I see nothing wrong with thinking that 3’s the worst game so far in the series, in fact I agree. But also, this kind of grudge holding is not a good look for gamers. The whole thing feels like…
Those gamers should really stop complaining about the new Fallouts and start playing/supporting Wasteland 2 which is from the original designers and plays much more like the old Fallouts. If Wasteland 2 is gets enough support/sales there may even be a Wasteland 3 then everybody can satisfied.
This just comes across seriously pathetic. A bunch of whinging crybabies who are mad because their ridiculously niche underground crpg from years ago has been brought up to date for new audiences. Don’t play them then you lil bitches.
Nostalgia is such a powerful thing. It can make you believe the first two Fallout games are perfect (they aren’t) and it can make you believe the last two games were terrible (they were amazing). I just like RPGS. Putting arbitrary limits on what is and isn’t an RPG only hurts the genre... and there’s no reason to be…
I still quite love the early games in the series. They are jam-packed with so much flavor that I still remember them fondly. Last time I played through them again (only a few years ago) I was still rather pleased with how well they held up over time. Quite the wonderful games when they came out, still worth…
The key word is definitely affordable. It’s not a list of “the best.” It’s based on affordability data from the U.S. Census ACS survey.
How about use of the word relegation is punishable by death. Just call it something else and we Americans may try it.
