I thought this one did the same thing only magnified. It absolutely feels like the end of the show. I suspect what's going to happen next time is the Doctor is essentially suicidal, wants to end the regenerations, and the First Doctor talks him out of it, convinces him to go ahead and regenerate.

Ten also said "Sometimes I think the Time Lord lives too long." And then after his little rant, he said, "Lived too long"… It seemed like he thought it was a chance at a new start… even though he was going to miss the life he'd been leading… Of course he'd just pretty much lost everyone, or they'd all walked away, so

Look, all I said was that I thought Chibnall would take a different tack from what we have seen so far, that he tends to do a lot of research and so I guessed that he might try to be more accurate scientifically and use less CGI than has been used in recent years. It's speculation. You can believe whatever you want.

Maybe because one of his characters died?

As the RTD-hating hasn't stopped, I'm guessing the Moffat-hating won't either.

(Luckily, no one ever really dies in this world) ::shakes fist:: I will return!!

Well, it wasn't quite the same, but, yeah, he tried to tell them that because he was clever he should be in charge. It wasn't a big speech, though.

I seem to recall them saying it was aimed at the bandstand crowd, which would be teens. It was on PBS in the 70s, after The Electric Company.

Did you never read fables or fairy tales as a child? They are full of tragedy.

Also, if you look at the usage of the sonic screwdriver, it has become a crutch with computerized apps that you can just point at things and make it do magic. The Doctor can control a computer program just by touching the screen—sign in, locate, and upload specific documents to the internet in just seconds, meld

They've both dressed up fantasy ideas in sci-fi language, but I think Moffat's reliance on CGI has made it look more like fantasy. I think Chibnall will have a completely different approach. It's just a guess. He hasn't really said.

I can think of about three times the Tenth did say something like that and it did annoy me, although his little speech made sense in Voyage of the Damned because he was answering the question, "who put you in charge and who the hell are you?" But it was a staple of the Eleventh (and River). And the Twelfth has taken

You seem to have a reading comprehension problem. I never said Doctor Who is hard sci fi on a continuum…..

I didn't like Hell Bent or Heaven Sent, either.

Really, you think that? For one thing what you have in quotes is not what I said. For another, I've been watching it for years… have watched most of the classic series (not a fan of the 5th or 7th Doctors) and all of the current ones. I love the show.

In the aftershow interview they said they were definitely rushing right down to the wire.

That might be the interview I was thinking of. I looked for the interview but couldn't find it so I might have misremembered.

Chris Chibnall said he didn't intend to do anything ground-breaking like that.

I wondered how people that didn't like Ten's regeneration were going to reconcile Twelve's.

I've explained my thoughts that I think there's a continuum and it will be less fantasy under Chibnall. You are free to ignore them, of course.
