LSS, thimerasol was used as a preservative in contact lens solution, and when I got my first pair of soft contacts I had a horrible reaction.

Totally off topic here, but slightly related. There was a guy in our office who was basically the kind of guy that’s invisible: neither great looking or bad looking; not much of a personality; always polite and quiet; had problems meeting a gaze or engaging in a non-work conversation.
