I’m not sure why this is a surprise. the majority of SUV owners have never popped the hood. most probably couldn’t tell you hp/torque specs. it’s all in the appearance. the same reason people buy G-wagons. you could stick a 2 stroke motor in that thing and the same people would still buy it.

you can easily tell the SUV wasn’t going to stop from the camera’s point of view. However, the Acura didn’t have the same view. there was a car sitting at the red light which could have blocked the view of the Acura.

i think fuel mileage is important to those that actually use a diesel for it’s benefit...TOWING. when you tow motorcycles or other cars over 150 miles, MPG becomes pretty important and that diesel torque works.

Even if you’re not a millionaire, buy a $50k - $100k car isn’t crazy. if you make a good living and cars are a big passion of yours, why not? you can’t take it with you.
