I love the coordination!
My favorite line is from The Addams Family. Are they made from real girl scouts?
Good evening, everyone. I’m here tonight looking for advice. I’ll start with the text that my wife and I got from our daughter last Sunday. Fwiw, she’s in her first year of college and she’s about five hours away from us.
Something that I found that works is to figure out some of the smaller things your boss does day-to-day, learn how to do those things and just start doing them.
Whuddup jezzies. In an unbelievably stressful week (home life, work life, the sustained hellscape of our politics) I had one HUGE bright spot. A few weeks back, I posted about possibly finding the sister that my mom had given up for adoption 8 years before I was born. I found her on ancestry.com.
I posted last week about moving out on my own for the first time, thanks to all of you who gave advice! Especially whoever said to make my bed- I did it this morning and every time I run something up to my room, it feels so much less chaotic, even with boxes everywhere. Especially since I’ve been falling asleep with…
It will take some getting use to, but 6:30 is the best starting time. I have started at 5:55, 6:30, 7:15 and 8:00 am pt. 6:30 allows you to wake up and be prepared for a demanding shift, but gives you your late afternoon and evening to yourself. Your early evening belongs to you. You can go on a hike, bikerride, go to…
Know the laws in your state! Here in Colorado for example, you are not allowed to campaign (defined by anything showing advocacy for a candidate including holding a sign or wearing a t-shirt) within 100 feet of the entrance of a polling place and that 100 foot limit has to be clearly posted.
If you didn’t know anything about Rob Reiner, you could have at least taken 30 seconds to Google him. He’s been a highly vocal (and financial) advocate for civil rights for 50 years. He helped start the American Foundation for Equal Rights. He’s repeatedly bankrolled challenges to Right-wing legal attacks on women,…
“No way. She was better than anyone we would’ve gotten through even then.”
I’m a sometimes-wedding photographer and also work for some wineries that are popular venues.
When this all began, we had to cancel a wedding at one winery, and the couple asked if they could still come and say their vows in the vineyard that day. Just by themselves. My heart broke for them. I’m not a big wedding…
Ha, you always know exactly what just happened when you see someone walking across a parking lot suddenly stop and throw their head back, then turn around.
Long post alert!
I had metastatic testicular cancer about 10 years ago, which resulted in a surgical scar from my pelvis to my sternum. I beat the cancer, and contemplated a decoration for a couple years. For some reason, a working lunch turned down this road, and I told my boss at the time that I was going to get an alien tattooed,…
And finally Halloween and Christmas decor is back on the shelves. Back in May I couldn’t find that stuff anywhere.

There’s also a lot of other emotions and thoughts tied up in this. “My friend was that sick and didn’t tell people?” “How could I not realize?” “Am I selfish for wishing Chad had come to me for emotional support?”
To state the obvious, maybe not? And I had grandparents died when I was young, but the first death of someone when as an adult, let alone of someone in my circle, a contemporary—all those things changed the experience of grieving. I was surprised at the phrasing too, but what a thing to police, Marvel fan or no.
Thank you for saying that last part! I’ve seen some horrible posts on social media trying to turn his decision to keep working over the past four years into some kind of bizzarro productivity fodder.
