Have you compared the used market for first generation ridgelines compared to a same-year Silverado? I'm not so sure about that resale value

Miata prices have become..... problematic recently. That aside, unless you are a Porsche mechanic and have access to the correct ecu via a junkyard, this will take a multiple of the purchase price to get running reliably

Thats a lot more effort though to submit an application, get accepted, deal with the auction, and arrange for a likely out of state seller. I'd sell on Craigslist for 1500 or so less, too.
