It’s not even the topics, it’s just Dave’s shows are lacking punchline. He’s taken himself too seriously like so many older comedians. I think because mainly, he is addressing his angst rather than reinventing himself. If you you can’t reinvent yourself, then your only option is to bow out gracefully or punch down in

“I want to say what I want!! YOU CAN’T TELL ME NOT TO!

Yeah, if this guy even has an "office," its probably just one of the rooms in his mansion.

“It seems like I’m the only one who can’t go to the office.”

Yeah that's very much a she wasn't pretty anyway comment and supremely juvenile.  How is that relevant?

And thirdly, you must admit that Hannah Gadsby is not funny.

Call me crazy but I’d bet that there are tens, perhaps even hundreds of black comedians who aren’t cynically-shitty people.

With that dark hair, Julia Garner and Kaitlyn Dever could play sisters.

“I want everyone in this audience to know that even though the media frames it that it’s me versus that community, that’s not what it is. Do not blame the LGBTQ community for any of this. It’s about corporate interests, and what I can say, and what I cannot say.”

It’s about corporate interests, and what I can say, and what I cannot say.

This is the exact argument I’ve been making since the special dropped. It’s one thing that Chappelle tells a story about a trans friend of his. It’s another that they can’t defend their story and that Chappelle is using it to justify his own ignorance.

I definitely got that vibe from them. And it definitely tracks with how I imagine Feyd (whoever they cast) is likely going to presented in the next movie. The outwardly less terrifying, but no less brutal public face of House Harkonnen.

Playing the villain seems so much more fun.

I really enjoyed Dune, but yeah, the Baron in this movie falls squarely into the nightmare fuel category.

I liked Dune. At this point I would watch anything Dennis Villanueva does. Dude has made some insanely good sci-fi movies

Why the fuck would live ammo be anywhere near a film set using prop weapons

This is 100% the best reason I’ve heard of anyone subscribing to Peacock.  Maybe any streaming service, for that matter.

“Halloween Kills....your desire to ever see another Halloween movie!”

Yeah I always figured this was the big shift, people are more used to this level of complexity in genre media whereas in 1984 you weren’t seeing anything much more elaborate than Star Wars or Star Trek.

I think maybe the mass audience is more ready for Dune after the success of Game of Thrones. The idea in the book (which didn’t really carry over to Lynch’s version where there were clear good and bad people) is that none of the warring noble houses (including the Atreides) are really “good” although some might place
