I sat next to a lady on a cross-country flight who brought a sack of Burger King on the trip, and it’s amazing how quickly that nasty ass smell can permeate such a small, enclosed space.

These online tussles can so often turn into two people shouting at each other, with the loudest, last-worder thinking they’ve ‘won’ simply by replying the most and outlasting the only other interested party.

...all of which is to point out, as an entirely un-invested third party: you suck at trolling, you’re getting

I’ll be interested to see what kind of Marvin Gaye biopic they’re going to make because his life was/got fucking DARK. The stuff with the Detroit Lions for example, could be painted either as the light-hearted adventures of a multi-talented super-star OR an addict’s descent into delusion, not to mention all the

A large part of this show’s charm comes from it’s no-budget, no-pressure set-up, and it would seem like the biggest challenge would come from somehow keeping that attitude/feeling while growing into a larger presentation.

It seems worth mentioning that there is a MASSIVE dissonance gap between the outpouring of rage that accompanies every one of these vaccination articles versus the adult vaccination rate in this country.

A first glance at some of the promo material seems to suggest that L. Ron Hubbard is not part of the story....I wonder if they intentionally left him out in order to avoid the rabid CoS protection squad?

That Jack Parsons/Aleister Crowley story is wacky as hell and seems like it could be pretty fertile ground for some interesting stuff...I want to say I first read about it in an L. Ron Hubbard bio? but I dunno how much confidence I have in CBSallaccess, considering this is the first I’ve ever heard of it (but I’m not

Which you surely found out from the international registry of animal cruelty reports, which are definitely updated and analyzed in real time.

Hey! I was just mentioning this movie in the Superfly thread.....as one of the other most boring examples of the genre. Can’t deny their obvious significance, though.

For sure. Superfly, The Mack, and Shaft are all considered genre classics that put me to fucking sleep. Exploitation flicks need at least some absurdity (hopefully lots!) but the most popular flicks usually end up being the most tame and lifeless, despite (or perhaps because of) being the better made/acted movies.

Black Belt Jones!

Counterpoint: Superfly is kind of a boring (but seminal) slog that is rescued by it’s soundtrack, setting and sartorial selections.

I would love to know how many of the most rabid/angry posters on this topic are actually up to date on their adult boosters, considering THAT part of the issue ironically never seems to comes up in the discussion. I’m guessing that roughly 75% of the folks calling people uninformed, science-hating, moron, conspiracy

How very well said. I am similarly (yet contrarily) reminded of when Bin Laden was finally captured and killed, and the tone-deaf celebration that ensued in the Western world, as if the worst individual’s demise somehow instantly solved all of the centuries-long issues in that realm, and no further thoughts/feelings

Star Wars world building:
1) Have a big weapon that blows up planets
2) Put Wedge in there!

“You are lording your supposed superiority over others, possibly because it makes you feel better about yourself (I can think of no other constructive reason for such supercilliousness)“

Manhunter is a truly great movie, says me.

Goddamn, that’s a lot of eggs!

I make a lot of fried rice, just because I make a lot of rice in the first place, and frying stuff only makes it better. I enjoy a faux-thai curried fried rice, with curry powder, cashews and pineapple.
