I understand your frustration, but people don't call her "Aerith" for just some reason. It's how the Japanese transliterated the name early on (it can go either way), and developers said they wanted it to look/sound like "Earth." To contrast with "Cloud," probably. Plus she's called Aerith in Kingdom Hearts.
