Yes. This really feels like an adaptation of a video game in a way that I don’t know anything else has achieved? There are health packs, weird power-ups, loot, side-quests, and the best part? It’s not ashamed of that fact.

Yeah, when I heard that my heart sank a little because it made me think that Amazon doesn’t have any faith in it.

Comedians are almost always the best guests because, as much as I do not blame him for riding this hot wing loaded train, Sean Evans is not a good interviewer for this setting. He’s too dry and only has chemistry with the bigger personalities that chemistry with everyone.

Their attempts to rehabilitate that character were highly misguided at best.

Counterpoint, that was an egregiously annoying callback.

It’s better than Afterlife by virtue of the fact it feels like an actual sequel and not solely a hollow nostalgia mine - though it does have intermittent doses of that. It’s definitely got problems, most notably the overabundance of characters and plotlines, but I had fun just watching a ghost busting mystery unravel.

If I had to pick a single nomination that I predict for the show, it would be Ethan Hawke in guest star.  It’s some of his best work, which is really saying something.

There’s only 3 seasons.

It really comes into its own in Season 2 when the kids are more of an ensemble and the focus isn’t as much on them (thought I still loved Season 1).

Definitely made me perk up!

But Jared Fogle wasn’t supposed to be a cornerstone of Disney’s next 5 years of films.

Season 3 is actually eligible for this year’s Emmys, and I hope against hope that it can get in. I won’t hold my breath, because of all the reasons you stated.

Lets see if Ethan Hawke sneaks in for Guest Actor because his performance in the penultimate episode was incredible.

I expect season 2 to follow most of the story beats that are in the second game, but in a completely linear fashion - while also filling in the time between season 1 and season 2 with a couple of side stories. That will give us more time to know Abby and come across as a more natural story beat than the “surprise” it

I was saying this the entire time the first season was airing - Joel in the show is not as easy to empathize with and is a less sympathetic character than he is in the games. I’m almost certain that was an intentional decision so that there isn’t as much of an outcry when the golf trip happens.

Being nominated and not winning is not a snub.  Being nominated is a recognition all its own.

Im late, but a moment I’m seeing go unmentioned is Jess’s double take and look of utter confusion when Greg says Quad Squad in front of her.

It is. If it were in OG screenplay it was expected to walk away with the statue. Putting it in adapted puts it up against both Oppenheimer and Killers of the Flower Moon

I agree that it would be shitty optics, but I’ll be damned if I don’t think it was best performance in a series full of incredible performances.

Bear and Cheese show up for a quick second during a phone call, but Elira and Willie Jack aren't in it.
