The opening paragraph - before the spoiler header - explicitly states that he is playing a Jedi who “saved the day” in a flashback sequence, which is a bit more than just saying an actor is in something. That’s pretty spoilery.

I’ve heard that the laser sight is behind some upgrades, but that may not be true.
Villain =/= narrative.
He was only on like 7-8 episodes (if that many), and was in some way responsible for the death of like 4 other characters - as a “hero” character. Infuriating.
Right? That’s what I was thinking when I saw the performance as well.
Isn’t WB supposed to be tightening their belts? Where does spending $150 on a RomCom fall into that new budget?
Because you only included the back half of the sentence.
This exactly. The show has taken small, but important strides to make events that take place in the second game more palatable to wide audience once they occur. Joel is less sympathetic, and Ellie is more overtly drawn to violence, which means that it will be easier for TV audiences to swallow Joel’s death and Ellie’s…
Bassett was the odds-on favorite to win until last week when JLC took home the SAG. Even then it was still pretty even odds in the most unsure category of the night.
Thank you. This always bugs me post-Oscars.
And not that it should matter, but I’m pretty sure that the people behind her whose view she was blocking were also POC.
Because A) it’s a trope I find boring B) having it be due to outside forces means it is repeatable. Even if only the audience knows, there’s a way to replicate it. It destroys a ton of tension about Ellie being the last hope for humanity.
I hated this. Giving us (even insinuated) answers feels like it’s undermining the scientists inability to find a cure. I only tolerated it because no one knew that her mother was attacked while in labor, and she subsequently lied about it.
Yup. Because Netflix was the first kid on the block they’ve got a lot of stuff they are struggling with now, because of how ingrained so many thing are in their identity. Like their Basic Service with Ads that has so much stuff locked because of licensing agreements - its an issue because they never thought they’d…
Yup. He’s far more cold and detached in the show than he is in the game during this sequence.
I’ve been saying it since the first episode - they have been actively making Joel less sympathetic than in the game. It takes more convincing to get him to take Ellie, more actively ruthless, and they cut the part of the hospital sequence that makes you feel for him the most - when he’s carrying Ellie through the…
Yeah. As much as a I like Part 2, that story structure would not work in a show, and was wearing thin about 2/3 of the way through the game. They’ll have to build it completely differently.
Exactly how I feel about it. Without the actual gameplay segments - where a ton of the relationship development between Ellie and Joel occurs - it feels very disjointed. Aside from an episode or two (Bill & Frank / Left Behind) it lacks the same emotional core that the game had because it is just a series of cutscene…
I really wish that Sean Evans was a better interviewer. The idea of Hot Ones is incredible, and has lead to some really great moments, but it always due to the guest and not the host. Props to him on finding a thing that works and not letting go of it though.
