“The simple fact is that Tesla is American luxury now.”
You’re a bit short sighted because you’re a car enthusiast (at least enough to be on this site). Tesla could have you sitting on a milk crate inside and it would still be purchased by those that otherwise would be buying a German because, Tesla is cool and is now “standard office bro” gear.
Wouldn’t Tesla have to actually make a luxury car first, then?
Let’s see.... Fit and finish? Nope. High quality feel? Nope. Good looking? Nope. Quality engineering? Nope. If it wasn’t an EV would it be worth the money? Nope... Yeah... Tesla has nothing on the Germans. Try again.
Teslas are not luxury cars. Expensive does not mean luxury. Their fit and finish is far below true luxury car status. Perhaps the next Model S will fix that.
“The simple fact is that Tesla is American luxury now.”
The Tesla fit and finish is not luxury. They are not a luxury automobile maker in any sense. Their interiors are fine. Their technology is great and their cars may be expensive but they are not luxury.
That really depends on if you put the Model 3 in the same segment as the 3-series, A4, and C-class. The latter 3 are very clearly in the same segment, it’s less clear that the Model 3 is. I’d put it in it’s own segment. Build quality and interior appointments aren’t on par with the Germans. I guess that raises the…

They had to put their secession plans on hold in order to grovel to the US Government for help in their crisis. But don’t worry, they’ll go back to being insufferable once the snow melts.
We have the most extensive freight rail system in the world.
Well, you’re technically correct (the best kind of correct), but for most people that’s just as extreme as the coldest winter they’ve experienced in their entire life, if not more (it’s certainly more extreme than anything I ever lived through, the coldest temperatures I’ve experienced in my 38 years walking this…
This reminds me of the 911 Turbo launch control stunt, where Road and Track did 50 starts in close succession with constant performance, while other cars go in limp mode after two.
That’s the most Porsche thing I can imagine, and I’m here for it. Being honest with the results is great, but showing (and beating!) your estimates under the worst possible conditions really gets my inner engineer ready for sexy nerd time.
I agree. Snow and ice is consistant, when you have clumps of salted road, chunks of ice, then more salt you have inconsistencies that give people false confidence.
I WISH we had unsalted roads. I enjoy the first 15 mins of my commute until I hit the roads they salt. Nice consistent snow up until you hit the salt than then you’re driving through sloppy choppy dirty slush.

What percentage of full size truck buyers actually tow more than 8000lbs? My guess is the percentage would be in the single digits.
I know diesel packs more go per gallon than gas but that is still right around what I see in my wife’s ‘13 Ford Fiesta at 75mph and that is fucking impressive. The only person I know with a previous gen Eco-diesel sees about EPA estimate at real world highway speeds so. Kudos to you Ram. Hate to see what the MSRP is…
