Ride sharing implies subsidizing or reimbursing operating costs, (i.e. IRS standard 54.5 cents/mile, or actual costs). Once rides payments exceed operating costs, than that’s commercial driving for profit. If Uber were only matching riders to a potential driver, the drivers would be able to set their rates.

Even Nissan has gone away from the toroidal CVT and uses a belt now, at least in 4-cyl models. I haven’t looked up the V6s.

The problem with CVTs is the spread (ratio delta between lowest and highest) is less than a regular automatic. Toyota has gotten around this by adding a hi/lo gear to their new CVT, which already has a torque converter for launch/creep. Try the Michelin X-ICE! They are LRR as well, but are great on snow and also standing water. The milage hit on our Fiesta 1.0 was really not measurable compared to the stock LRR tires.
