I got the application that Jon is not staying in the Night’s Watch. With all the Wildlings going with him and with the signs of grass growing in the snow, I felt like the implication was that Jon was going to become King Beyond the Wall. It’s very unlikely anybody in the South is going to care whether or not he is

To be fair, the “let’s become a democracy” idea was laughed out of the room. Instead, they became an elective monarchy, which was a reasonably common form of medieval/Renaissance government.

I mean, I don’t need the corpse to talk to Cheryl for it to be crazy as f*ck.

When you rush past lots of character development, especially going from a 5 on the insane scale to 11, then a big change in character becomes sudden. Might be hard to wrap your head around but that’s how language works.
Her turn was sudden. Deal with it.

Seriously, that was silly math. I mean, by that token, if we had a gay season of the Bachelor or Bachelorette, we should expect that 90% of the contestants would be secretly straight.

There are tons of rumors that he ignores, but this is different.  It originates with someone connected very tightly to the show.  It also sounds more than plausible.  I hope Martin’s denial turns out to be untrue, though.

Ya what a non-reason for an answer. The show is clearly much more lucrative at this point and it makes total sense to delay the books to maximize the impact/profit.

First thoughts: this is a fake rumour.

What’s the endgame to that? You poison Daenerys before she destroys the enemy navy and ballistae and you’re suddenly back to trying to seige a castle with a depleted army.

Yeah those three weeks really pushed her right over the edge.

Yes rushed and sudden.  She literally goes from a 2 to mass murdering 15.  Of course that will be over the last 3k pages for us in the books so it wont feel sudden.

Look, I am in love with this show, the characters. Even I felt the character development was forced, Dany’s turn had very little context, and a good majority of the character development for Jamie, Tyrion, Varys etc got thrown out the door in favor of advancing the plot in a certain direction

I think the first seven seasons have been like playing chess; this season, the writers are playing giveaway checkers......honestly, the execution has been what has always set GOT apart from most shows; otherwise, it would just be a soap opera....

Eh, there are a good many things the writers added that weren’t in the books, including before and after the source material ran out. The writers’ decision to cut these last two seasons short is still puzzling to me, but it hasn’t all been garbage. Also, I’ve never quite understood people who have viewed GoT as

I believe the “she’s not eating” scene indicated that Varys was trying to poison Dany because, in the previous episode, he’d stated he would do anything in his power to get the right ruler and I think that’s why they executed him. The little girl also stated that the guards were always watching her indicating that she

RE: Varys, he was trying to poison her. The little girl he was speaking to was his accomplice.

I disagree. She was always power hungry & entitled and potentially willing to be incredibly violent to that end, even when perhaps it was not strictly necessary. She also has a self-perception as a savior, which is partly what leads to her sense of entitlement. She was never shown to be insane or not calculating—her

She was built up through the course of the show as “Stannis with Dragons”, in 1.5 episodes they said “j/k shes a actually Joffery with Dragons”.

You should “PayAttentionPlease”. Not once has Dany ever KILLED 10,000s of innocent civilians??? She even said last season, when Ollena told her she needed to be feared, that she wouldn’t be the “queen of ashes” or whatever. This is an incredibly rushed ending to her story, if you want to say anything positive about

You should listen to the podcast, but short version: There’s a big difference between burning down the Red Keep and indiscriminately killing civilians. This would be a whole different conversation if Daenerys had gone straight for Cersei, killing innocents in her quest to kill the woman who usurped the throne and
