I think we actually agree here. Yes, they figured it out because she was acting off. But it took them a week to realize it, because she's so different from her old self—the one they think they know—and she does a lot of "out of character" things these days. In the past when Katherine has pretended to be Elena, it took

Good point. I'll go with that. The barrier lasted for a certain amount of time, and then wore off. And Dr. Wes was fine with Damon leaving the house eventually, as long as he and Enzo were away.

I agree with you on Stefan and Spike—just making the comparison. I should probably not put this on the TVD writers—it's really my own perceptions and how those characters compare.

But it didn't wear off after the Travelers left, because Katherine got stuck as soon as she walked in the door.

I'm about to say something super bratty about the writers here, but I think they cribbed a lot of Stefan/Damon from Angel/Spike, but it's sort of like a shitty Xerox of those characters. Stefan is selfless and compassionate and struggles against his dark half, but unlike Angel, doesn't seem to give a shit about the

I kind of thought that was meaningful—when Caroline said something about how they would know if this had happened because "we know her." I don't think they know Elena at all anymore. I don't think anyone does, including Elena. I hope the writers meant to convey that here, and I hope when she comes back, she realizes

Me too. I was so impressed by Elena and what they did with her—one of the only non supernatural people at that point, but still interesting, loving, proactive, capable of taking care of herself. People were so excited after the S3 finale about Vampire Elena, and I was sad and full of dread. In fact, I remember making

But it was actually Elena's breakup speech to Matt, modified to fit Damon, right? So a lot of it is Elena's words, and Elena's method of delivery, but Katherine made all the Damon-specific modifications, which shows that she's pretty insightful and way smarter than the rest of these fools when it comes to this dynamic.

You're right that there was an element of pleasing Stefan in there, and I hope that's where it stays.

But her naughty little smirk indicates that she was relishing the moment, so I'm sticking with my original thesis.

Hoo boy. I know that you're a greater-good kinda person based on your feelings about Hayley's baby, but we are just never going to agree on this kind of stuff. Plus, I don't buy that Stefan and Caroline would actually put Damon's welfare (and the theoretical welfare of the general populace) over Elena's. It doesn't

Caroline has been personally abused by Damon, and has witnessed his abuse of her loved ones. She never has to accept Elena's relationship with him if she doesn't want to, and she has every reason to be concerned for Elena's happiness and well-being if she stays with Damon.

Katherine's sincere appreciation for Caroline was possibly my favorite thing about this episode. She still couldn't resist trolling Tyler though.

And when did everyone on this show decide that Elena's quality of life is less important than Damon's? Maybe she's good for him (a whole bunch of dead Whitmores might argue with that), but he is NO GOOD for her. Why should she have to be with him just to keep him in line? ARGH.

I thought she'd had a baby too, but she didn't. So it's not that.

Yep, Brian is a creep and a classic Nice Guy, and he drives me crazy. That behavior is realistic for some high school kids, but that doesn't mean we have to give it a pass. I find it irritating to so often see Brian propped up as the "good" or "right" choice for Angela, when honestly, he's not even in the running.

Yeah, that really didn't happen. They made references to literature when they were reading it for school. Otherwise, they actually talked like teens. I agree that FNL did a good job with that too, but from my experience, being a teen was a lot more Angela Chase than Lyla Garrity.

Disagree. No one gets to take Hayley's baby away from her, no matter their motive, unless Hayley herself is hurting the baby. I recognize that Klaus could use the baby to make hybrids. He says he won't, and Hayley certainly doesn't want that, but he could. He could do a lot of bad things with Elena too, when she was a

I don't blame him for being devastated and wrathful after his mother's murder. I blame him for trying to kill Hayley's baby.

Oh, that season one final scene is so spectacular. There are so many in those first two seasons, I can't even separate them all, but a few I love from season 3:
-The premiere phone call between Elena and Stefan
-fancy ball at the Mikaelson mansion
-Reunion between Anna and Pearl
-Stefan threatens to drive Elena off the
