Democrats have long pursued policies that have betrayed the interests of a majority of the country.

I don’t think the evidence supports that claim. Trump did better with minorities than Romney. It’s really important that we own up to suppressing our own populist candidate and opting for the status quo-which I am sure works for most of us here on this blog, but doesn’t for vast swaths of America and the world.

I don’t think that it is wise or prudent to write off this election as a “white supremacist” win. Rural white voters in Pen. voted Obama in 2008, and Trump in 2012. They voted that way cause the system isn’t working for them. They voted that way because our corporate democracy has stripped them of opportunity.
