It’s the “short circuit” variant of the track. F1 cars do a 1:16 around the normal track.

Also from Wikipedia:

Sorry, I was not up to date. One or two weeks ago, Porsche (Frank Walliser) confirmed that they will stick to the 911 and bring a new 911 RSR for 2017.

They wanted to get out of GTE long before the diesel thing. The plan is/was to come back in 2017 with a new car, probably mid-engined.

which is why a 911 won the last two rounds?

perhaps the most expensive one?

It’s either Müller or Mueller, but not Müeller

So the Mercs retire with amazing regularity due to engine failure?

The car is back

..., might as well have one that can do everything but drive fast.

I’m not a rulebook guy, but how else would you create a balance between petrol and diesel cars?

There is the EoT (Equivalence of Technology) but that’s of course something entirely different compared to BoP

Exactly my thoughts

“It has more in store when leaving off, but when those batteries run out it’s the 918 with the most dead weight and the least power. By a lot. And no AWD anymore, except for the amount that it can produce each lap which isn’t zero of course.”

“...Anyway, that’s not the point: the point is that it can keep its batteries charged well enough to give all the electric power you need for a long time! I believe you are very wrong about running out of charge on a racetrack, because the McLaren seems to charge its batteries very quickly”

Using the combustion engine has nothing to do with energy recuperation. It’s an inefficient way to load the batteries while being on the road and even there it takes long enough for a full charge. On a racetrack where the ICE runs at high loads, all stuff related to the electric engine will be dead weight after a few

The P1 can’t recoup energy ... after a few laps the electric stuff is dead weight in that car.

The P1 can’t recoup energy...

The mentioned 8:12 is 2 seconds slower than last years 24h pole position time which means that other GT3 cars also can do a 6:42 or even faster ring only time. Wouldn't have thought that.

The #18 basically is last year's car or a show car and won't be used this year.
