In 1976, my dad bought an Orange (Topaz to be precise) Triumph TR-6. While it gave him more headaches, it was far-and-away the coolest car in the burb’s during a time of truly hideous cars. I credit getting dropped off at school in that car as turning me into a “car guy.”

Second on the list was a 1986 T-Bird Turbo

Personally, I think these are two very lucky buyers in the current market. They just bought great cars that will give that a minimum of 150,000 miles of reliability and fun.

Nailed it a day early!

I grew up on Staten Island and rode that boat many times.

Bingo! In addition this was pre-Euro so Porsche was dealing with multiple European currency rates for their non German suppliers. Also post Berlin Wall coming down where two Germanys became one which really screwed up the value of the Deutsch mark.

Who the hell wants a “pretty” Trans Am? They were built to be vulgar from the get-go.

AMC Rambler American.  They just don't die.

“You can't replace synthetic oil with conventional oil without damaging the engine"

Mock me as you may, the first gen Hyundai Excel! Hell, I can’t even find a good picture of it.

Brand new these things cost about $12,000 in today’s dollars and started the whole 100K mile warranty. I was horrified when my mom came home with one of these, but that thing just kept going for a good 10 years with no real

....which will vanish on the first trip to the dealer.

Please tell me where and when I could get 964 at that price.

Thank you! That’s the story. I lived there from 1994-1997 so thought it happened then. Maybe I heard about afterwards and reminded me of my time there.

Not sure what this has to do with cars, but it gives me an opportunity to tell my favorite Philly story. I worked there for 3 years in the mid-90's.

I have several problems with your thesis. Mainly approaches like this are creating the income equality issues plaguing the nation.

1. You propose raising the tax based on inflation numbers. Inflation relates to the price of goods, not income. There is a serious problem in this nation where inflation is greatly

Everything you said about the Mazda3 Hatchback, you can say about its fraternal crossover twin the Mazda CX-30.

Crack pipe. However, if it was later 80's earlier 90's model with the Lotus tuned suspension and turbo it would be a different story.

I think you missed the fun part of the story with the Impulse. GM owned large stakes in both Lotus and Isuzu and would do strange things like marketing an Isuzu with Lotus suspension

Vernon Gholston II or Quinton Couples Iii, if you prefer. They cut their losses early for once.

My daily driver and I've owned it since New! Mine has 190k miles and still runs fine. Fun car to drive and this one has did rails for s burger box. Go for it. Most reliable car I've owned.

I’ll keep those features, but lose all this connected-car and self-driving nonsense. It seems these days you can’t buy a nice car without being stuck with $5-10K of dopey technology attached to it.

Sixty-one passengers survived the Tenerife accident.
