Actually Musk said that Teslas are cleaner than Priuses. So even if you charge your car by using conventional energy methods it is still cleaner than filling up the tank of most cars.

There’s nothing wrong with looking at monthly costs... If you already know how long you are willing to pay off you car loan/lease, for example 5 yrs. You would be then looking only at monthly payments + down payment costs only... That way you can compare apples to apples and find the best deal.
