I’m pretty sure all of the major legacy automakers are quietly trying to figure out how to shrink or even get rid of their dealer networks to move towards more direct to consumer models, largely because dealers absolutely refuse to ‘get in line’.

Its a truck. Who cares if it matches?
On the other hand, stainless panels, especially with bends and creases (body details) in it, is much more durable and dent resistant than mild steel, it would probably just bounce most little ewee cars right out if the way. Of course, it would probably cause more damage too, in whatever it hit.
Yep, looks like it won’t dent very easily, unlike practically any car panel in existence.
Yeah I was pretty skeptical of Cybertruck just a week ago, but watching the Cammissa/Pobst review has turned me around on it.
no, they aren’t - there was some videos from the factory tour and the long hockey stick piece is its own thing (there was racks of the pieces in one of the shots).
From what I can see so far, it does look like it’s at least more resistant to dents than a typical body. I mean, I was skeptical of this till I saw Randy Pobst smack the middle of the door with that sledge. Was it a metal sledgehammer? No, but that door was OBVIOUSLY a lot more dent resistant than any other steel…
More likely, it’ll be the opposite - ICE cars as a niche market for the very rich, fueled by incredibly expensive synthetic fuels. And hey, look, it’s the two EU countries with significant auto industry revenue from exotics/sports and super/hypercars that are pushing for a synth fuel exception. Regular people won’t do…
There is no shortage of lithium. As they have been mining lithium they have discovered that there is a lot more lithium reserves. Additionally, Tesla next gen motors use zero rare earth materials.
When they “revealed” the Cyber Truck, they brought in a half-baked prototype, shot a nice own-goal by damaging glass in a demo supposed to show how indestructible it was, and promised a release timeline that was ridiculous to any reasonable observer even on that day. This time around, they showed two vehicles under…
Expected Musk to announce Sex Robot
Making cars is hard.
What do you mean that ICE vehicles rarely have powertrain issues? That is the most nonsensical statement I have ever read.
“refundable”
I really want the Ocean to be amazing... but Fisker has to do a LOT to earn my trust and money at this point.
Tesla’s entire reputation is one based on safety. I dont think they would jeopardize that all willy-nilly.
In his base model Taycan article his obsession with Musk leads him to claim that Porsches are better VALUES than Teslas. His obsession is honestly just sad.
Well, at the very least, it’s probably much more difficult to crash a train into a tall building.
I would love a highspeed rail between LA and Vegas. I don’t mind the drive (3 1/2 hours with no traffic) but 45 minutes would be a dream without buying a plane ticket and dealing with an airport.
