Quote from the referenced article:

“They are also not fully independent contractors because independent contractors, by their status, can determine their own price for their labor.”

NYT has a very interesting article on this topic with a tie in to the Waldorf schools:

Look up what happened in Austin Texas when the city tried to tighten the background checks on ride sharing (pretty sure the taxi companies were behind that law). Both Lyft and Uber fought it and when the law passed, immediately pulled out, leaving all the drivers high and dry. The law was repealed by the state

That headline is incredibly sad, and depressingly accurate.

No shipt?

I shipt at Target!

I shipt myself!

I believe you forgot your /s tag at the end.

“I just bought the cheapest 747 in the country! Tune in next week when I take it to Wizard’s garage and we find out what’s wrong with it!”

I shipt my pants!

My understanding is that this profit figure is for a fully-burdened kitchen (that is, pizzas are being sold as fast as they can make them). So, a big chunk of this “profit” would be lost on covering overhead during times that the kitchen isn’t operating at full capacity.

And there’s your obligatory “PEOPLE DESERVE MORE THAN $12 AN HOUR TO ANSWER A PHONE AND TYPE IN AN ORDER!” post, folks.

Ahh the splinter commentators really look ridiculous once reality hits them in the face.

Don’t forget--the owner gets paid last. Employee payroll is a non-negotiable with no flexibility.

What the hell? They’re gross profits per pizza, that “profit” offsets the losses of slow business times, advertising, spoilage, investing in the business, and more.

That “profit” is labeled incorrectly. It really should be “operating profit” since other expenses and taxes is omitted. Business sense is not a strong point in the woke Gawkerverse.

Most of the profit goes right back into the business, that’s absolutely true.

Exactly right- this covers the days when there’s no rushes- crappy weather that keeps people in, and “PROFIT” turns into “pay the bills etc etc”

Sausage is love.
