Nothing is in season in December? You should visit California, living there I shopped at farmer's markets almost exclusively and different things are available in December but there are definitely things in season throughout the winter there.

Red meat is pretty damn lean when taken in nature, it is only the grain-fed unhealthily raised red meat which is high in fat. I suppose cows raised on pasture are not super-lean but they aren't the fatty monsters of the CAFOs.

Or, we could reduce the number of people if there isn't enough food for all. This could be done in a humane, controlled manner rather than the brutal painful end that nature would provide.
