Maybe I'm amazed was composed back in 1968-1969 and yes, I agree that post Beatles Paul's discography is abominable.

Pet Sounds is a masterpiece. Sgt Pepper's has a great start (the first three songs) and a great ending (the last two songs) but the central part is rubbish and *very* boring.

Lost Highway is my preferred movie of Lynch's and I can't see why it's so underappreciated.
