Well, maybe, maybe not. I’ll say this though: IMO, if it was the indeed the real reason in the years following the time the movie was released, it probably is no longer the reason today. That movie is a classic, but it certainly is not at the forefront of our collective psyche as it may have been back then.

Fun fact I heard on a podcast :

Ha! During the press tour for that movie, I saw an interview where Greg Kinnear said that his own mother pretty much told him just that! “But, honey, you’re no William Holden”.

They own just about every cosmetic brand... it’s pretty staggering. Lancôme, Shu Emura, Vichy are all under L’Oréal’s umbrella, for example.

L’Oréal owns Urban Decay, I’m sorry to say...

Oh, I’m quite familiar with the expression, which usually goes “Il faut souffrir pour être belle”.

Preach it. Can we tack it on to the really early 00's to that as well? My hair never looked so cute as when I sported my ultra flippy bob, à la Chloe Sullivan in the first season of Smallville. I regret no single picture of it, I looked awesome dammit!

Off topic but: “pour la bellesse”? Quoi? Is that some local jargon or something, cuz I’m a Québécoise, and I’ve never heard that before...

Really? Does he do that a lot?

Wouldn’t reading a book straight out of a Christopher Guest movie with a cover photo of a dopey, thousand-yard stare make you feel like you’re the only unlucky person in this entire miserable universe?

Oh yes. It defnitely awakened some things in young me too.

My 4 y.o. recently asked me to get her ears pierced. I have no objection, I’ve always been of the mind that it should be her decision. But I am waiting for her to aske a few more times, just to be sure it’s not just some whimsy.

Yup! Had my ears pierced as an adult once using a gun, and two more times with a needle. I had no kids at the time, but I was immediately sure I would never, EVER get my kids’ ears pierced with a gun now that I experienced getting pierced properly by an actual professional. The difference in pain and healing is

Aiden was waaayy too good for Carrie! She and Big deserved each other.

OMG, that is so wrong. I can just imagine a caricature of a big boss at a publishing house, cigar in mouth, saying: “What you need is to make it sexy, see! That here, that’s how you’ll sell your little book.”

I’ve been there. Yes, it’s common, but I know for a fact it does not mean it’s not painful, both physically, and emotionally.

That’s probably it... Plus, I’m pretty sure I remember George saying years ago that he never wanted to be a father... He was too afraid he’d be a horrible one, or something like that.

There’s always money in the banana stand!

Reading the headline, I actually though Quavos owned a chain of restaurants that specializes in ratatouille... which made the last part of the headline really confusing.

Fair enough I guess. I suspected as much, but I didn’t want to make any assumptions, which is why I tempered my language.
