Well, I am brown and I thought you’d find this interesting. People have in the past asked me if I am Muslim or from the Middle-East and it amuses me that my answer that I am not from the Middle-East and I am an atheist seems to bother them even more. It’s almost like they could handle it if I were an Arab Muslim but…
find people who are into something that makes them happy, and shit all over them.
If you couldn’t figure that out by reading the first sentence (This won’t work for some of us), I wonder what exactly you thought it meant.
Well that’s my point, you can say what you said because there’s no social taboo surrounding it. There’s no fear of reprisal or being labeled as “racist” or whatever. But if I were to note that Jewish communists were wayyyy overrepresented within the early Bolshevik government as well as the NKVD as a justification…
Russia has always had an Orthodox Christian majority. The Communist government, on the other hand, was officially atheist. Just because the government tried to stamp it out doesn’t really mean that it went away. For example, all KGB officers were regularly assessed to check if they toed the party line, which means…
Nice deflection. But continue to ignore how the early Bolsheviks were overwhelmingly jewish, as well as the NKVD.
Yet they didn’t have concentration camps for gay men, did they? This equivocation is ridiculous. I’m not sure why supposed liberals feel the need to knee-jerk defend the worst aspects of Islam, but the fact is, the only concentration camps for gay men are in Chechnya and they’re being run by Muslims.
Maybe look into why the USSR was anti-semetic and then do yourself a favor
This is cultural. And the whole culture in that region, Christian or Muslim, is the problem.
If you think that I haven’t tried it then I can only shrug. I said that it “won’t work for some of us”, which does not mean that it won’t work for all of us, or even most of us. From the looks of it, this does work for you, which is excellent. Now, unlike an antibiotic, these actions are very subjective and not…
FGM is vastly different from circumcision because of the way the organs differ. In that sense, these 2 actions are not comparable. That doesn’t mean that non-consensual circumcision is fine or that it doesn’t change anything. Bringing up circumcision when talking about FGM is false equivalence.
Lesson here - read the post before you reply. Seriously.
I am not really sure what you mean by that. It doesn’t work for me. I can probably think of one specific thing and ask myself what might be causing it, or in this case write down what might be causing it, which would probably help in some way. On the other hand, if I start writing down all the thoughts that come to my…
Well, if you don’t read it after you are done, then it doesn’t work in this context. The point was to identify what is causing you to be upset by writing your thoughts down. Otherwise this exercise is purely a waste of time, unless one enjoys writing down random thoughts.
If you’re having a hard time identifying exactly why you’re upset, I recommend going the Morning Pages route, and writing three pages longhand, stream-of-consciousness style, filling those pages with whatever pops into your head. Don’t think; just write. You may be surprised with what comes up.
When I say valiant, what I mean is “well, her heart was in the right place and she genuinely did what she thought was the right thing”.
Who will try very hard to prove that she is just as bad as her predecessor when it comes to policy making.
Well, it teaches us that famous people often exaggerate stories that purportedly show how they overcame obstacles and failures to succeed in life.
“Though I have committed myself to working to improve the lives of the people of our state, there have been times that I have let you and our people down, and I’m sorry for that,” Bentley added.
