At least Bash actually smiled in this episode and had a humorous scene with the courtesan! Bash seems to be always in the most dour story lines - too bad, I think Torrance Coombs could be fun. (Wasn't he fun in the beginning? I can't remember…)

But the writing it's adapted from isn't that good either - and certainly not prestige!

''A Snickers bar that thinks it's filet mignon'' - hahahhaa, exactly. What's up with all this Outlander-reverence?!

Thanks! Well, I'm sure the costume designers will say that the French court is more fun and loose than the English, hence the crazy costumes etc.

Uhm, ok, WOW!!!

The costumes in Outlander are outstanding! No debate. Even those knitted neck warmers in Season 1 though they weren't accurate.

Haha, what's this you're referring to? Might check it out. ;)

Fantastic to have Reign back! I've been watching Outlander for costume drama instead, but for all its production value, I think it has little warmth and even less brains. Reign at least has a knowing sense of humour.
Oh, and I now remember that we're supposed to hate Narcisse, but how can you hate that smirk and OTT

I just saw this. I agree, I haven't seen such an affecting rom-com in years! Always thought Jason Sudeikis was too smug and pretty bland, but he got to me in this. I could have done without some of the 'emotion music' and the slow motion, but it's been a long time since a film left me feeling so romanced - and sexy

Haha, yes say it like it is: total shit.

I agree that it's an interesting angle on her person and that they are balancing the vulnerable and ruthless in her nicely, I'm just not always convinced by the acting - especially when Dudley's in the room.

And as far as I can see, she hasn't directed before! Reign should be VERY thankful that they have her.

Excellent review, Genevieve! It is so spot on that it's staying true to characters, not history or sense, that makes it a good show.
I especially enjoyed Claude and her tough sweetness in this episode, and was surprisingly on board with Gideon and Mary. The last few episodes I just haven't bought their supposed

I totally agree about the actress playing Amy - really embarrassing! But then the next second she's dead, so hey-ho.

Yes, I see your point. Also Henry killed in the heat of the moment, where Catherine and Mary were calculated (well, not to kill of course). But yeah, don't all those royals have to be a little bit crazy to deal with all the blood on their hands?

But you probably wouldn't even be questioning it, if it had happened in the first season. After all a woman was shagged out of a window by Henry for laughs - I'd say that's more disturbing than what happened to Don Carlos if you think about it…

Totally! It was that magic all right. Also refreshing that Mary did some comedy for a change: ''Uhm… I'm very disappointed in you…?'' *Catherine eye roll*

Look at this from Wikipedia about the real Don Carlos and his real head-injury: ''In 1562 Carlos fell down a flight of stairs, which caused serious head injuries. His life was saved by a trepanation of the skull, performed by the eminent anatomist Andreas Vesalius.[5] After his recovery, Carlos became wild and

Just realised that the fun has slowed gone from the show - first Henry, then Kenna. Catherine is pulling a lot of weight by now.

So it's the pirate's child? (can't even remember him and Greer having sex…)
