I was surprised by that as well. the commentator in Seattle said it was also good when stuck in traffic jams. I guess the aero maybe would justify it, but still, i would rather have plenty of cooling and give up .10 additional drag, especially since it is being used in a completely functional way.
Anyhoo, i think

Suit up.

I agree that it’s less than ideal to have a separate series for women in one of the few sports where it’s wholly unnecessary. But if it gets more women out there racing and can inspire more to join the sport, I’d consider it a net positive. There’s a lot of misogyny out there to overcome before we’ll have truly

Meh, I’ll always support more racing, so I’ll be checking it out. Frankly I’ve heard nothing but criticism without a lot of solutions; these women want to race now, while they can, however they can. I’m not mad at that.

I completely agree with the mom... under no circumstance should the child be shamed for her name, it’s not something she has ever had control over.

Gives her child a stupid-ass name.

Maybe don’t name your child something moronic if you don’t want yourself (and your child) ridiculed for the rest of their life. And this from a guy who named his son after his favorite Top Gear presenter.

My first though here too. This doesn’t make either of us horrible people, but that mother? She’s a horrible person for burdening her daughter with a laughably stupid first name.

I’m not going to lie. I laughed when I read the headline and SW should not be made to apologize.

Edit to add:  If she was mocking the name it’s different than laughing at the name.  The article above is unclear.

This woman needs to have her child taken away from her for the child’s sake.

We the people of Poland are also offended. We enjoy many positions, how dare you limit us to one.

Pole position has a completely different meaning over at Jezebel. I think it’s time auto racing should switch the phrase to something else before someone gets recreationally offended and demands social justice.

Does she look oppressed by the patriarchy, sad, or angry in the photo as she laughs and smiles in the photo signing the stamp? No. GTFO, go find something else to have fake outrage over

Wait.

>Men are horny and feel the need to procreate

Because it’s not about two wrongs making a right, it’s about whether or not we’ve got a double standard in place that depends on what kind of equipment you’re lugging around. It’s the same thing that happens when female teachers sleep with their male students: You get a chorus of guys exchanging high fives and wishing

Did we accidentally get a Jezebel article on Jalopnik?

I don’t see anything implicitly sexual about this. Dude asked her to sign his back.

this is exactly why i don’t have a problem with this. even if it were my sister that were doing the signing.  the fan is passionate about supporting/getting the signature, and no one would think twice if the roles were reversed.

Is our big problem with it that she’s a woman, or that she’s seventeen? Let’s flip it around a sec and see. If a seventeen year old male racer was asked by an older woman to sign her chest, or tramp stamp area, would we be ok with that? I can’t help but feel there would be far less protest about that, right or wrong.
