It seemed pretty clear to me at the time – I don't have the dialogue handy for a re-check right now, but as I recall she talked about going to his sex-den several times, plus angry brother flipped out on Caspere and turned the torture session fatal because "he knew what she had been doing there", etc (even before

That was certainly a surprise "Oldboy" angle (although I guess given the themes, setting and influences of the season, "Chinatown" would be a much better comparison). Felt a bit too much like piling on additional (and somewhat unlikely) awfulness for the sake of it.

Don't forget the Caspere/daughter incest angle direct from CHINATOWN, too.

I come across this so often (PR people in particular seem fond of describing their clients as infamous, which might make said clients grumpy if they read them) that I think "infamous" is going to go the way of the word "literally" and have its "official" definition changed by the sheer weight of wrongness.

Hmm, yes, I assume a USAian saw "6,000M" and forgot the entire rest of the world uses a different, more sensible measurement system.

I see this used in this (wrong) way so often now (PR people seem very fond of describing their clients as "infamous" in releases, which might upset some of said clients if they read them) that I fear we're headed for a "literally" situation, in which the sheer weight of incorrect usage changes the "official"

Dear writers on the internet everywhere,

I don't think what now seems like her damnation, what with the murdering and devil magic (THIS IS WHAT COMES OF READING HARRY POTTER BOOKS, CHILDREN!) is too much of a problem, because the suggestion seems to be that A) she has to willingly give herself over to the Devil so he can get the required Triple Word Score

Good grief, I mean it's not like ultimately you think that things will probably turn out too well for any of these characters or anything, but yes, a cancellation would have meant one of the most depressing finales in history. The room got a bit dusty in that final scene with Vanessa and John Claire. (Can't wait to

Yep, that's a fair point. I'm mostly reliant on friends that still have the time and money to watch a lot of films to make more exo-wheelhouse recommendations. Even then though it's still a real mission to track them down and find the cash for a rental, etc.

I'm sure it's probably great and that I'd watched it, I'd likely enjoy it. My point was more along the lines of dear God, there are a lot of good movies. I used to be someone who would at least semi-try and keep up, but now I'm at a point where I'm reduced to doing film-watching triage based on basic concepts. Sadly,

You know, for a while there not that long ago, when I used to watch a movie or two nearly every day and had the time and money and no kids enough to go to film festivals and regularly attend the multiplex and catch up on the bare-minimume must-sees, I sort of aspired to being a serious filmhead, and sort of regret

Ohhhhhh waxworks family. It is going to go poorly for you. Poorly.

Let's not forget as well that Malcolm literally said "I already have a daughter" before shooting Mina.

I was wondering if actually seeing the painting could live up to the build-up / legend (it's always worse in your imagination), but that was pretty good.

Hey, no, look – *someone* needs to get rid of her (please).

It's a nice thought, but it would certainly be hard to tally with events in the book anyway, as that chapter plays out from Jon's POV.

The thing about Melisandre potentially bringing Jon back to life is that I'd almost rather he stay dead than get help from her. (What exactly is her deal at this point; just roaming the lands solving mysteries/whipping up enthusiasm for stake-burnings?) I guess having Jon be resurrected via the Lord of Light and then
