The article notes that, unlike elementary school, there are slight benefits to homework for middle and high school students but, they aren’t large enough to counter the negatives of too much homework.

No, I too, even though I have an HBO subscription, watched it and it matches what I saw.

I was having a conversation with my younger brother about a month ago and I was surprised that he didn’t remember a particular thing about our father. Then he reminded me that he was only 10 when our dad died from cancer. While it was 17 years ago now, I often forget exactly how young my brother actually was when it

Identity theft is a thing that happens. My guess is that this guy looks enough like him and memorized that information just in case of an arrest.

The Electoral College is only broken because we haven’t added any representatives to the House in nearly a century. That used to be done after every Census. Then the members of the House got scared when urbanization started happening in earnest and just, didn’t do it once. Eventually, they decided to set the number at

Yeah, I was going to say that some of the licensed brand frames in my area are in the $200+ range so this is straight up affordable.

I’m 32 and it (or a signed waiver saying that I rejected it) was required before I moved into my college dorms in fall 2003. I paid the ~$90 and got the shot.

Now, this makes sense. As long as the state gets the proper paperwork, why should they care who performed the ceremony? I understand why most states require witnesses though, attempting to prevent coercion in a government registered contract is a valid use of government power.

Wow, I just finished ending 20 (the final ending which requires the previous 19 to unlock) and it’s rough. I’m just surprised that a story (it’s simple but it’s there) actually came out of this thing in the end.

I had a bad toilet in my last apartment. Sometimes it would run and not stop. If I didn’t live on the first floor then I’d have had angry neighbors below me at least 5 times that year.

Who lives alone and hasn’t had to deal with this yet?

Haven’t the current rules for applause only been around for a couple hundred years anyway? Before that people cheered whenever they thought someone did well. That includes most of the time when the major classical composers were performing (pre-1700 or so).

It’s the recommended grade for my brother’s Jeep Liberty while either towing or driving in 4WD.

What I really want to know is how this worked out in regard to “sleeping with her rock collection.” I can’t really figure out who else is suffering any consequences there (until the kid rolls over, breaks a tooth and costs you a fortune in dental bills).

The problem with uncoupling basic health care from insurance is that unless it’s paid for, people tend not to seek basic health care until something goes wrong and by then you have a situation that insurance does have to deal with.

Starting next year the per-diem for Jury Duty in my state goes up to $45 plus mileage. Many people I know simply can’t afford to not be paid from their primary employment and replace it with that for any significant period of time. I can...barely for a certain period of time but, hourly workers just can’t do it.

Both Apple and Google take 30% from purchases in their respective app stores. The only place to get a better split is YouTube where the creator gets ~55% of the ad revenue (I don’t know how much ad revenue Twitch streamers get if any). 30% seems to be where the standard is forming.

You know, they mention that in the article as well. You didn’t actually have to go through the filing to find out that he was representing himself.

I’m thinking that the reason for the extreme charges in some cases may be to get people to roll on anyone who may have leaned on them. That’s what I was thinking when I heard about the charges on the local news (I was born in Flint and still live in the area).

There’s a reason that schadenfreude (pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune) is a word, it’s fun! Also, that’s probably a better word for what you’re trying to say.
