Wouldn’t the children be able to use the business as collateral on a loan to pay the inheritance tax? They could then pay the loan off from future revenues of the business. Valuation of the business would be based on projected revenues.

I think the main rationale behind it is that you can’t choose your parents. Being eligible for an inheritance is basically winning the genetic lottery.

Totally agree. The juvenile eye for an eye political brinkmanship of both parties is not doing anyone any favors. Given current political trends and the demographics of the Supreme Court, we’re maybe 10 years way from seeing cases decided by 3-2 majorities.
