They do 'learn' and most do have a 500 - 1000 mi break in programmed (i.e. they take your pedal output, decide the blade opening, then decrease it by 10% so as not to cause damage to internals as they are being worn in.

Oh I understand 100% why they did it. It's self preservation and helping to extend the life and reliability of the engine as well as controlling emissions outputs and preventing the lemmings from being, well, lemmings.

It's not clear if these are issues with the quality of how these cars are built and how they hold up, or if these are just issues with how cars are made these days, with smaller engines aiming for good mpg over smoothness or power.

All these new driver assists (blind spot, night vision, lane warnings).
