What is the difference between Stamos writing in his memoir, years after the alleged fact, about his ex’s suspected infidelities, and Britney Spears writing in her memoir, years after the alleged fact, about her ex’s suspected infidelities? Is it that we’re already supposed to dislike Justin Timberlake?

Enigmatically, Floridians will readily vote for all kinds of facially progressive policies if it’s a statewide referendum or ballot initiative—but they largely WON’T vote for the politicians who nominally support those policies as part of their platform.

“[H]er reasoning she shared, which does read as very dismissive and privileged.”

I would agree that she doesn’t seem well versed as to the full scope of what intimacy coordinators do, however it seems clear that, regardless of what intimacy coordinators may actually bring to the table, Aniston doesn't seem to think there's anything missing from her ‘intimate scene’ process.

Is Amal Clooney supposed to have hidden something? Her involvement in most any given proceeding is probably a matter of public record. I mean, I doubt she’s going around bragging about how she defended dictators or alleged war criminals before the ICJ or ICC, but I don't think that constituted "hiding".

The tl;dr of my comment is that I don’t understand Aniston’s comments as so unequivocal or all-encompassing that they could be fairly read as representing that no one anywhere has ever needed an intimacy coordinator.

I get that, but by all indications, the husband was the closest relation she had; no siblings (so no nieces or nephews either), and no lineal descendents. Strong or not, the husband was seemingly her strongest relation.

The estate is presumably valuable enough that if someone with a better claim had existed, they’d have come forward to litigate the matter already.

Fuck the GOP. So happy for Ohio today.

For many years now, I’ve been of the mindset that SCOTUS Justices rule upon, and construct their opinions, by working backwards from the results they desire based on their personal politics. I’ve long thought they basically invent the road in front of themselves while pretending it was always there.

Courts (especially State courts as appears to be the case in these instances) often have jurisdiction to address issues that are very likely to recur even if they will not recur for that particular plaintiff.

“If being unable to suffer further harm because of a law meant you could never seek redress under that law, no person killed - or their estate - or their surviving relatives could ever seek redress.”

Who is funding the current lawsuits?

Probably a no-go because of the Constitution’s “Speech and Debate” clause, and, arguably, the Westfall Act. It’s a line-stepping shitbird edge lord's wet dream.

“Hard to think of much more American than[...]”

These states suck, but I think these defenses based on a lack of standing/justiciability are pretty unextraordinary and probably valid.

It’s great that he didn’t rape her repeatedly, but could we maybe aim a little higher? None of this behavior is OK in a respectful relationship of equals and maybe it’s a good thing to establish that and reset the current bar.

As I said, I’m not terribly interested in whether Palestinian equality and rights occur in the context of one state or two states, with Israel being the other.
