Bros was an attempt to do a gay, but otherwise traditional, romcom. This movie just sounds ridiculous and batshit—wholly its own thing. It probably won't have any real mass appeal, but then again, that's not necessarily what A24 is about.

I tried Googling “goat skin and fish scales” but every link in the first couple of pages either had to do with this story, dealt with literal goats, or (helpfully) discussed what fish scale cocaine is—but only that.

Without seeing her actual posts and the context she was using that language in, it’s impossible to tell if she was racist, or merely a clueless dumbshit.

What I’m about to say totally and completely hinges on the precept that sane (i.e., not mentally ill) adults are cognizable moral agents with free will (as the concept of “free will” is classically understood,) and further, that “choice” is real and not merely an illusion. I’m not really sure I actually believe all tha

Stories like this always make me happy there was no social media (as we know it today!) when I was in high school (late-90s/early-00s); I may not have been out there spewing racial epithets, but I definitely held some “edgy” teen opinions that I am glad I wasn’t able to announce to the world, or immortalize digitally.

Look... words are difficult, okay?

But as an adult with the capacity for critical thinking, I, personally, didn’t go into any of this with the expectation that Kevin Owen McCarthy was going to emerge as a feminist champion.”

But this just sounds like a person who has way more money than sense.

“The sentiment behind the PERRY Act makes sense.”

She’s a solid choice—imminently qualified and impressive, and deep ties to California, while being just removed enough (by dint of being a Marylander now,) to not give her too much of an advantage against the other candidates if she chooses to run to keep the seat.

I didn’t drive anyone to an out of state abortion clinic—I drove to a Waffle House that (apparently) just happened to be two blocks from from a Planned Parenthood.”

Makes me want to make a donation in the name of “Jonathan Mitchell’s mom lol

Can’t wait for the inevitable think pieces comparing the box office performances of Taylor Swift and Beyoncé’s respective concert films.

Seems like an odd duck of a show. On one hand, it’s a network show that airs over linear television (though I assume it’s also streamed somewhere, because *everything* gets streamed somewhere,) which ostensibly means it need to appeal to Boomers. On the other hand, the show’s demographic focus, based on its leads and

My Wed night game is rotating like that now. Finally I can indulge my 20-years-long obsession with Spycraft.

I do play TTRPGs and a few times a year I can buy a $50 book of game rules for a game I’ll probably never play and it’ll sit on my shelf and I’ll leaf through it occasionally.”

I feel like your original comment posits that the GOP is going to try to target men’s control of their reproduction with legislation, as they’ve already done with women. To do this terrible thing to both men and women would make them not hypocrites. What would be hypocritical would be to exert authoritarian control

I understand not being pleased with her actions here, but I think it’s a bit much to call her a DINO or speculate that she might flip parties.

I dunno, depriving women of bodily autonomy and reproductive healthcare is one thing, but depriving men of the same is probably an intolerable encroachment on human liberty as far as the GOP is concerned.

“The Westcott family had this to say last week: ‘The sole reason Katy Perry is pursuing litigation against Westcott is her personal disgust of the elderly, mentally ill, and veterans.’
