Maybe some entries in Jackson’s discography are just too massive to be canceled.

Sometimes people say things because it seems humorous to them, and/or might seem humorous to other people—even though the underlying premise, or central conceit of what they’re saying, might be untrue (and/or, as here, an unfalsifiable statement).

The way I read “as an American” is “as a person who believes the underlying idealistic notion(s) of what America purports to want to be.”

Wait, what? Did she just admit to rape? Or was she also a minor?

If they don’t end up using her, it would be the ultimate “Chekhov’s gun”. However, I suspect she’ll play a role in the Captain Marvel sequels, as she’s technically a supporting character attached to that particular Avenger (even though Spectrum is also an Avenger in the comics).

“I have two friends, who both — well, one is Ann Coulter. She started dating her security guard probably ten years ago because she couldn’t see anybody else[.]”

Somebody who is profiting off keeping people in prison.

Fuck everything if this was really on the table. If you let someone go and they’re playing ball and keeping their nose clean... you leave them the fuck alone. Full stop.

I agree with the criticisms here about Carol Danvers being written sorta like cardboard—these movies can be about character if you let them be—I mean, I’m a ‘comics guy’, and I’m primarily going to these things for the character moments between the big set-piece fights; e.g., there’s something delightful about Thor

I don’t get the whole need to repeatedly rank sexual assault, as though it matters?

This has to be one of the most blatant violations of the attorney-client privilege I have ever seen. It’s not supposed to matter how long it’s been since you represented someone—you do not reveal privileged information (which absolutely includes information you only have by virtue of your representation of the person,

Hot take: movie is fine; song is good; stars of the movie were good in the movie; Bradley Cooper had a good first outing as a director; Lady Gaga is a good actor.

This statement is more sensationalist and headline-bait than it is accurate. There are more than a handful of cases in recent history where cops were tried for rape, and I can think of at least one that already went to a verdict and resulted in a conviction. In this case, the prosecution thought they’d have a weak

Business meeting in Phoenix? What the fuck is this guy getting into?

Even if this were not a 100% fucking-scumbag-bullshit thing to say—it still wouldn’t be true! Setting aside all of the allegations that have yet to be evidenced within the ambit of an official criminal proceeding—the dude married a 15-year-old girl when he was in his late-20's! It’s a matter of public record!

Even if it had been an honest mistake—and I do not believe at all that it was—but even if that had been the case... that kind of mistake (honest or otherwise) should be dispositive of being a police officers. There are literally hundreds of thousands of LEO’s in the U.S. that don’t mistakenly kill an unarmed child all

I really really enjoyed this movie when it came out (enjoy a little less so now for whatever reason), but was still disappointed that I didn’t get something as completely fucking bananas as Crank. When are they going to make a Crank 3?

Amother thing is that Best Picture gets voted by ranking, so I wonder if Green Book got a lot of 2's and 3's and not necessarily a lot of 1's (this is why I thought Black Panther would win.

Is the ‘black identity extremist’ moniker just complete hogwash, or is this mentioned because they’re not new, or aren’t a threat to America? Southern Poverty Law Center tracks some Black Nationalist groups on their hate map. Now I thought SPLC was a pretty sound source of information about this sort of thing, but if

I got no problems with Ali’s win for Best Supporting Actor.
