What about Jimmy literally moving back and forth between the light and dark in the final scene, fighting with himself about whether he should risk everything and help his brother or not? I thought that was a really great way to highlight his internal struggle against doing what is right.

And then that makes you rethink your convictions to the point of being disgusted with yourself for nearly killing someone so methodically with the immediate juxtaposition of why you starting your war against crime in the first place.

Luthor only found out who Superman was using the ship's database that had the information from Man of Steel. He never learns who Batman is, they just run in the same circles as two super rich dudes.

Oh, so that's why he was the president's goon in The Dark Knight Returns and ripped off one of the Green Arrow's arms, because he was emulating the best of humanity. Got it.
