That fucking Ohio ad with the generic I guess it's supposed to be indie kind of song in it…yeah, that's just about got me on the hook for a subscription.

At least I can say pretty definitively that Spotify isn't using targeted ads. What part of me listening to hours of jazz makes you think I'd like to hear Big Smo?

Stoked. His first solo album still gets a lot of spins and I'm looking forward to this one. And I've been told several times I look like J. with short hair, so I kinda have to like it, I guess.

Correction noted, but I stand by my statement.

It's the 2002 remasters you want to avoid. The 1995 issues are excellent, all original and available for pennies at Amazon.

I for one do not need to see Ice Cube Jr. reenacting how his father lost his virginity.

Just the rhythm section. And they restored the original tracks for the latest reissues.

I'm trying to do the Heisei Godzilla films. I owned them all on DVD and have repurchased them on the ridiculously cheap Blu-Rays. I have seen a few of them already, but other than Return of Godzilla/Godzilla '85 (which was the first one I ever saw in a theater) and Biolante, I couldn't even tell you which ones I saw,

There was another one I remember reading ages ago that was called Hammer of the Gods? (NOT to be confused with the Led Zep book of the same name. The question mark was part of the title.) It was another deflating the myth book. I'll check that one out too.

What gets me is that you're just not allowed to suggest anything the Beatles did was anywhere short of a nugget of pure gold or else you're labeled some kind of hipster contrarian. I went through that phase when I was first really getting into music, where I thought every note they ever played was pure genius. Then I

That was it exactly. I own Lightning, Master and Justice. The first two sound rather tinny and shrill, which is surprising given they were mastered by Mobile Fidelity, who usually do an excellent job. Justice (a 4 45RPM set!) sounds like Justice; clear guitars, punching drums and no bass. Plus you literally have to

Yeah, they could, but probably never will. A lot of those thrash and metal albums from that time period sound really weak. I guess it was a thing. See also all the SST albums produced by Spot.

Actually, there were remastered gold CDs of the pre-Jusitice albums that go for an arm and a leg now a days. And there was a very controversial vinyl series a few years back, but most fans agree the early albums came out pretty poor in those masterings. Still your point stands. (And for a more bass filled Justice,

That's the first sensible post I've seen on this thread.

Gotta say I kinda like the fact that the guy who has lately been the poster boy for improving sound quality via his Pono project, turns around and releases something as lo-fi as this.

Originally, the album was supposed to be a triple LP set released in 1971. Well, Sundazed is set to issue that set soon. There's a bunch of music they left off the CD that will be on this new release. I can not wait.

I finished R.J. Smith's The One not too long ago and I could not agree with you more. The book could barely paint the full pictures. There just is no way they're going to be able to do it in a two hour movie. Not a chance.
