“HQ tend to have a higher number of employees than normal, which is obvious if you’re familiar with the term HQ for a major corporation.”

1,500 are real because they aren’t inflating the number to win corporate welfare benefits.

“It doesn’t make sense to build your own campus in Queens for a mere 1,500 positions.”

“Maybe, possibly some of their hires might have come out of upstate universities, but those jobs would not have helped the state overall to any major degree. Certainly not to a level that would offset the tax breaks and infrastructure strains the project was going to generate.”

Lol that Foxconn plant isn’t ever going to amount to shit.

You’d think so with the bullshit arguments the teams make.

“The city is missing out on many millions of tax dollars in the short term from this”

25,000 that would have cost the state/city $170,000 each. Or 1,500 that cost the state/city nothing.

It’s probably more than most NYC reporters make.

A lot can happen to hiring projections in 8-10 years. Just look at the big Foxconn deal in Wisconsin which has already been scaled down tremendously from the levels the company promised in order to get their huge welfare deal.

Right, if there’s anywhere with a stagnant real estate market that needs a boost, it’s the five boroughs of Manhattan.

No wonder Trump hates Bezos. Bezos is richer, and nobody cares that he’s bald.

Justin Trudeau does.

Oh no, Donald Trump definitely sees color.

The people who would do such work expect to be paid, and in full.

Lol, Larry Klayman. I feel bad for the defendants, of course, but at least they’ll almost certainly win.

I suspect it was a joke about a) Julia’s omnipresence and b) how much easier it would be to get funding if they did cast Julia Roberts, despite it being really dumb casting.

They don’t usually do it about relatively recent, well-known historical figures of known racial identity. I mean even for Gandhi they found Ben Kingsley, born Krishna Pandit Bhanji.

I think it happened, but the guy probably meant “it’d never get funded unless we have Julia Roberts as Harriet Tubman.”
