On the other hand Marissa Mayer notoriously ended telecommuting at Yahoo, which would seem to be more family-friendly and woman-friendly. Working at home = no commute time = even more time with family and kids than if the woman has to sit in traffic at rush hour twice a day.

Sure, but do they do it honestly? Or by padding income with unnecessary procedures? My niece took her daughter to a dentist, said dentist wanted to pull a bunch of her teeth. For reasons that somehow haven’t been noticed by other dentists.

There’s no reason to assume the increase in women would be uniformly distributed through the company. Editorial would have lots of women as potential hires, whereas technical departments might not have as many.

Or, as I note in another response to you, the increase in women in leadership positions wasn’t uniformly distributed across the company. There’s no reason the increase in women in leadership roles couldn’t have been mostly in editorial. That would likely have been one of the easier areas to find a lot of women

I would expect the increase to be larger in some departments and smaller in others. In editorial, it would be easy to hire women to fill roles. In technical areas, maybe not. When I worked for Britannica, editorial had significantly more women.
