My car was formerly registered to my stepfather, who due to a brain tumor that caused seizures, had his license revoked. It is perfectly legal in Virginia for the car to be registered to him, even though he cannot legally drive.
I thought the same thing until I saw one in the flesh a few weeks ago at a golf tournament - they are gorgeous in person.

I have so many friends who have 2001-2005 VW products (Passat, GTI (20th Anniversary, mind you), Jetta) and they all have sword off VAG. I'm VERY tempted by a GTI for my next car, but I'm very reluctant for that reason.

One of the alternative transportation bills seems to make more sense. Higher taxes in the areas that require greater investments in transportation - seems rational (and I'm one of those people who would get hit with the higher taxes).
