Did you just compare a biracial man to a white woman who lied about her race? Being financially well off doesn’t equal white. The fact that you even suggest that is absolutely wild.

But after someone accepts your apology, says it’s okay, and wants to move on, you should believe them and drop it. It’s annoying and condescending to keep bringing it up and apologizing after every take. Have a conversation about it, sure, but don’t make someone do the work of convincing you that they’re okay over and

“He just wants to have an excuse for why he’s cute that ignorant little liberals (like yourself) will swallow.”—your opinion

It has literally been a part of AAVE for years. Years. So that's who.

I would add to his wokeness that he is donating $1m and proceeds from jersey sales to community organizations, which has the delightful side effect of nullifying the argument that his protest is meaningless because he isn't "putting his money where his mouth is" or whatever.

hi, we know what football is. not liking or following it doesn’t equal straight up not knowing of it’s existence. it’d be hard to live in the US and not know. so you can get that little stereotype out of your head. as for the rest of it, why don’t we wait and see what he does if/when he gets cut? and how is his afro

Agreed - I think its intent is good. I mean, I wouldn’t want him to do it to me after every single take but if you are on a shoot for hours with someone screaming n***** at you all day it might be nice for the guy that’s doing the screaming to say, ‘Hey, sorry, this sucks and my character is the worst am I right?’

Re Daniel Radcliffe... I was just watching a documentary on Blazing Saddles. They interviewed Burton Gilliam, who played Slim Pickens’ sidekick in the film and he talked about how bad he felt about saying the N-word all the time in the movie. Cleavon Little took him aside and said, “It’s okay, these aren’t your words.

Colin is making me weak at the knees. This guy has people calling him a traitor and all kinds of racial slurs, yet he is only getting blacker and more defiant.

Translation: I’m not part of the culture that said this for years before white people got wind of it, and now that white people have started saying it, I’ve noticed and I don’t like it. Therefore, everyone, including people from the culture that was already saying it and didn’t ask white people to say it incorrectly,

Former actor here. Had to get beat up and called all kinds of racist names by a white guy in a movie. Also choked and hit with a gun. It was actually fun, lol. I showed him how to choke me without hurting me and how to hit me in the head.

But this is a very specific context where the people in question knew what they were getting into. I’m not comfortable hearing slurs, I don’t like them and I don’t use them - not even to take them back. That being said, if chose to take a role in a movie where I knew that I’d be called a slur as part of my job then I

I’ve counted 6 comments angry about the continued use of “woke” and “bae.” Lol. Keep ‘em coming!

There are definitely some white actors who...relish in getting to use offensive language under the cover of a script. The same way that there are some male actors who enjoy getting to use horrific language towards women in a judgement free environment. And it’s usually pretty easy to tell. It always made me feel gross

I think any criticism is probably mild and restricted to saying something like there are more artful ways to handle what appear to be good intentions.

Ben & Jerry have been legit “woke” [pauses to hork for using the term as intended] since most of the people reading this were in diapers or potentially even earlier.

actors of kinja please weigh in on this one

I mean people have been saying “woke” for years. I think that officially makes it a thing that is happening.

Baepernick.
