Doesn’t surprise me at all. If I remember correctly, the Van Damme Street Fighter movie , was actually a GIJOE movie at some early point, which makes total sense when viewed from that angle.
Yeah, they don’t seem to have the right people calling the shots. There are ways to indulge in nostalgia without caving in to absurdity and they don’t seem to be able to walk that line very well at all. Paramounts movies are simply not elegant. Properties are handled crudely and hamfisted.
It’s the same reason why the new Turtles movie sucked. Keep it more in line with the original comic, NOT the cartoon. (And fire all producers and directors, and hand the franchise to a new production company instead.)
The problem with the GI JOE movies (well EXCEPT for the humongous issue of having the wrong directors and producers/corporate vampires overseeing them), is that they were both trying to emulate the silly cartoons. Makes sense from a recognition/commercial standpoint. But the highest quality GI JOE stories were told in…
Awful news. James Horner was on that shortlist of giant composers, together with the likes of Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams. So many favorites... The Rocketeer, Willow, Krull. The list is seemingly endless. What a mark he made on pop culture!

We’re in a very decadent age of Hollywood right now, like the historical epics of the 50s. I can’t believe that Jurassic World had such a pull on crowds despite weak trailers and mediocre reviews. A roaring piece of art like Mad Max comes along and can hardly break 150 min domestically.
Agreed! Mission Impossible has slowly emerged as one of the most significant action franchises of the last decade or so. Great stunts, which is a rarity in todays action movies, and you know that Cruise will deliver on the spectacle. I’m excited for the 5th film. It’s a healthy series. :)
That was a bad first episode. Nothing happened, the characters seem indistinct at this early impression. The dark tone felt silly and self-parodying at times.
Knowing Michael Bay he would surely have her twerk in the next movie....
A good fighting game roster needs a variety of characters and body types. Not just “cool dude” and another “cool dude”. It would make for a very bland line up if manly fans got to decide who’s in. For every Ryu you need a Dhalsim, E-Honda or a Birdie.
Craig Mullins is the best digital concept artist there ever was. Even today, the concept art industry has not caught up to what he was doing 15 years ago.
I don’t get it. Were people that excited? The movie has looked underwhelming and half-baked through every single trailer..... Go watch Mad Max instead you cretins!
To be honest with you, this concept art is not terribly exciting. The artist is talented, as in the images look realistic, but would you buy “the art of Jurassic World” based on these images?
Michael Bay has tarnished the name of Transformers, but had I seen that game back when I was five, I would have fainted. The look and shading looks great! :)
Wow.... Apparently bad movies are like bad presidents. Given enough time, people will start to re-appraise them and put them up on a pedestal. First that Revenge of the Sith article last week and now this.
