One of the most crushing disappointments I’ve ever had in a theatre. I was gutted walking out. Sorry Lauren. I loved the Matrix, and Reloaded signaled the franchises downfall while Revolutions sealed it’s fate.

Well this sucks.

Oh it will turn a profit, I’m sure. Actual fans of Akira, people who love Otomo’s vision will gnash their teeth and curse the soul-less hollywood suits for bastardizing one of the seminal sci-fi movies of the last century.

You underestimate the power of greed. The corporate suits want the name. They just gotta get rid of all that “weird stuff” at the end. Why does it have to be so complicated you know....? And add some comedic sidekicks for good measure. Lets remake 2001 next in the style of Guardians of the Galaxy!

You wanna bet?

They just want to sell the name. The studio zombies don’t care to understand what the work is about and why it’s significant.

Warner Brothers please stop! Get your greedy hands off Akira.

GO!!!!!!

GO!!!!!!!

I remember ROM from back in the day. :)

Okay. Maybe she just wanted to kiss Tom Cruise then? Fair enough I suppose. :)

Yeah sure.. It doesn’t ruin the film or anything, but see how clunky the kiss is in general? The explanations for her kissing him are alright enough - but they are reliant on semi-weak arguments and deductions like “they are desperate”, “she understands his situation”, etc. It’s basically just excuses cobbled together

Also. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt in Edge of Tomorrow. While it’s a great film, it rang false that Rita would be the one to kiss Cage when technically she had just met him, and he had spent an eternity training with her and falling in love.

These two. Odo and Kira from Star Trek: DS9.

Roger Moore was certainly Bond as I knew him growing up... In hindsight, Moore might not be the guy I’d ask about the inner core of that character. Fun as the films were back in the day, the Moore era has not held up particularly well outside of goofy camp value. Just like the Brosnan films, when you do Bond as

A few people are obviously wrong. These are wonderful! :)

Tron Legacy was a very expansive movie to make... And it wasn’t a mega-hit, and the reviews were mediocre. It’s pretty simple. The Pirates of the Caribbean sequels are awful awful films, but they do make billions.

I think more blame lies on Joseph Kosinski. His follow up “Oblivion” was another example of a pretty film with a very bland plot and un-engaging characters. Tron Legacy was just very vanilla.

I don’t agree. Chicks love monster movies! The Fly and The Thing are actually great choices.
