I wonder what Tegan O’Neil thinks of Thanos characterisation in the movie.

I wonder what Tegan O’Neil thinks of Thanos characterisation in Infinity War. I know he’s/she’s a rather snob-ish individual who isn’t very fond of the MCU movies and he/she always been skeptical of MCU’S Version of Thanos since his/her review of Thanos Rising.

Short answer: No one can write Thanos but Jim Starlin.

You should read Thanos Quest by Starlin.

Really? That bullshit again?

This is what happens when you keep Thanos away from Jim Starlin for too long Kids.

Sadly, Starlin’s characterisation of Thanos as a self-loathing and intellectual nihilist who tries to convince the Grim Reaper itself to love him doesn’t fit with the standards of current Disney blockbusters.

Thanos Rising was awful and full of inconsistencies.

At the end of Infinity Gauntlet, Starlin had Thanos stop being a nihilist villain after he learned that violence and mystical macguffins will never convince Death to love him. In the sequels, also penned by Starlin, he becomes a sort of anti-hero and Adam Warlock’s companion.

No one writes Thanos like Starlin. Marvel editors and writers seems unable to see the character as anything but a Darkseid wannabe.

I take It you haven’t read Jim Starlin’s stories on Thanos. Thanos is a very compelling character when he is written by Starlin.

Yeah, its frustrating how many times Thanos has been written like a thuggish cosmic potentate and jobber in the style of DC’s Mongul or Dragonball’s Freeza by the majority of Marvel writers. The only ones who stayed faithful to Starlin’s Thanos were Keith Giffen, Ron Marz and Peter David.
