When I worked on Capitol Hill, I started the Girls Club or Good Old Girls Network. We’d meet for lunch or happy hour or brunch on weekends and discuss work and job prospects. It was so enjoyable and relaxed. I invited young women I mentored so they could get job prospects.

Right, it’s assumed that often children aren’t responsible with money, so the parent uses the money on behalf of the kids.

Why does saying black women are beautiful, smart, or powerful mean that white women are suddenly less? Or more generally, why does praising one group of people suddenly make other groups less? I really don’t understand the logic. Saying that you are my equal doesn’t mean I am any less, just that you are good too. Sigh.
