So we’re tipping robots now? That makes total sense.

Yeah, I’ve been seeing a LOT of this lately.

To shift MORE labor costs to the customer.

Maybe they get the vaccine here?

There was an attempt by the trump administration to change the tipping rule to allow restaurant owners to keep tips for "business improvements". https://www.washingtonpost.com/food/2021/01/08/new-tipping-rules/

Tipping is just a way for companies to shift labor costs onto the customer. This nonsense needs to stop.

Yeah - that’s ridiculous. I am curious whether there’s truth to the rumor that many of those credit card tips don’t even actually go to servers. I’ve had more than one server say the only tips they actually get are the cash-jar tips. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if that was the case.

Tipping should absolutely die because it’s dumb, but waiters and bar staff are NOT getting paid by their employers without tipping.

Not in many states. Where I live servers get about $3 an hour, about enough to cover the taxes on claimed tips.

The fact that they’re asking isn’t what makes me mad. What makes me mad is the impact this tipping fatigue will have on servers and staff that actually need the tip.

There are also countless stories of employees not getting their share of the tips.  Food is already too expensive to be asking me for even more at the checkout.

Self-checkout would be the place I’d feel the least guilty at for not tipping.

I sold my car to carvana last year for 2500 more than I paid for it. Nothing personal, kid

Most can’t see past the next quarter! That is why companies do stupid things to please analysts and build “shareholder value” that lasts 90 days while they scramble to steal business from the next quarter. They don’t play the long game.

If you make money by having and selling opinions, either to news outlets, tv, or people, having long term and fewer opinions is bad for business.

Buffett’s position in stocks has always been long, like very very very long. While most analysts on Wall Street can’t seem to see past more than a year or two.

I still miss “Truthpoint,” Dril’s show on Adult Swim. Looks like it’s been scrubbed from their website but all the episodes are still up on YouTube.

He’s personable enough but I really question the quality of his writing staff. So many of his jokes are office watercooler-quality.

Wasn’t a big fan of his TDS tenure for a lot of reasons, but whenever his name comes up I always take the opportunity to recommend his book. It’s just outstanding on every level. Especially the audio version, which if nothing else, helps with the various accents and pronunciations. It’s funny and quite moving in
