Neato, one more example of Amazon’s attitude towards antitrust laws and consumers in general (not to mention their treatment of employees and contractors):
No doubt there are challenges (and not just limited to corrosion), but clearly some people/places have decided the benefits outweigh the costs, and I hope someday soon that will be us here in the US :)
Good to know - thanks :)
I totally agree, with one notable exception: today’s smartwatches seem to offer a lot of genuinely useful features for health/fitness buffs. Given I don’t consider myself in that category, like you I have zero desire to get one.
I have zero expertise on the matter, but I wonder if there’s some way to seal or protect the metal from corrosion. Some kind of paint or coating? IDK but there may even be some cheap and easy solution. But even if there isn’t, that might just mean more money and effort towards maintaining and replacing the windmills,…
nah, any more of us and we might, idk, disrupt our delicate ecosystem or something.

As a ginger, i’ll have you know the fact that i have no soul is completely unrelated to my hair color. This harmful stereotype has been promoted for far too long; it’s high time we put it to bed.
wrong. i’m fully aware how exceptionally few of us enjoy them, but they are fantastic, and a great example of artificial flavor, color, and texture done right. why are circus peanuts banana flavored? i don’t know and i don’t care. if you ever end up with any for some reason, i’d be happy to take them off your hands.
I agree. As I mentioned to someone else, one of my all-time favorite movies is Aliens, which is much more a horror movie even if it’s also undoubtedly sci-fi as well (i.e. it is simultaneously both 100% horror and 100% sci-fi). What’s kinda weird about it being such a favorite of mine is that beyond Aliens, I have…
Absolutely.
Fair enough. As I recall, one of the main reasons I thought of it as a “feel-good horror movie” was the soundtrack itself; it seemed to be shooting much more for a quirky, light-hearted adventure vibe rather than suspense or dread or anything like that (for some context, one of my all-time favorite movies is Aliens.)…
probably as reasonable a take as any. just so I’m clear, I have no real problem with people enjoying it regardless of why, it’s just “not my thing.” In fact, I haven’t seen it in years, maybe I should watch it again and see if I like it any better now.
Yep, and that’s why every day I thank God for the internet - like, how else would I share my terrible opinions with the world? :)
I know I’m in the minority here, but I didn’t enjoy Tremors. Like, at all, really. The whole concept of a “feel-good horror movie” seems completely absurd to me, and not in a fun way.
I guess? Had to look up instrumentality (even though it means pretty much what you’d think if you had to guess), not crystal clear to me how it relates to the story, but I’ll assume yes, exactly :)
No doubt, grilled cheese ranks among the three greatest comfort foods - and it doesn’t hurt that they’re cheap and easy to make. I think it would be nearly impossible for even the strongest and purest of us to keep from at least thinking “hey, don’t get me wrong, this is absolute heaven... but a grilled cheese would to…
Yes, that is one interpretation, maybe even the most popular interpretation. (it’s probably my favorite). But I think there are several more. One I’m familiar with is that X-Day DID in fact happen, Subs DID in fact get “ruptured” and taken up to the “pleasure saucers” or whatever they’re called, the prophesy was…
Not an odd comparison at all, in fact I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it somewhere before. Fairly (very?) similar to Watchmen as well.
